A foam cannon needs a machine in the right band, 1,500 to 4,000 PSI at 2 GPM or more, and the right fitting, 1/4 inch quick connect on the Simpson and the Kranzle bayonet on the Kranzle. Foam cannons for pressure washers

A foam cannon is a bottle, a mixing chamber and a mesh that whips soap and water into foam under pressure. Thick foam clings to a vertical panel long enough for the detergent to break the bond between the grime and the paint, so the rinse takes it off with less pressure and no scrubbing. It works on any machine from about 1,500 to 4,000 PSI with 2 GPM or more, which is every residential unit here and most of the commercial electric units.

Car wash foam guns and the detailing pairing

Detailers run a foam cannon on a 1,600 to 2,300 PSI electric unit: foam the car, let it dwell a minute, then rinse with a 40 degree tip from the top down. Pressure washer soap and detergent

Use a detergent made for pressure washers, which foams in a cannon and rinses without residue. Simpson's multi purpose cleaner is the car, siding and general formula; the heavy duty cleaner is for grease, oil and equipment; the green formula is the biodegradable choice for decks, patios and jobs near landscaping. All three come in one gallon jugs and dilute in the cannon bottle.

Setting the foam

The dial on the cannon sets how much concentrate the mixing chamber draws, and the nozzle on the front sets the fan. Start at the middle setting and a wide fan, foam a panel, and adjust: thicker foam for road film and bugs, thinner for a quick pre wash. Rinse the cannon with clean water after each use so the mesh does not clog.

Will a foam cannon work with my pressure washer?
Yes on any machine from about 1,500 to 4,000 PSI with 2 GPM or more. The Simpson cannon fits any 1/4 inch quick connect gun; the Kranzle cannon fits Kranzle lances with the bayonet fitting.
Can I use dish soap or car wash soap in a foam cannon?
Use a detergent made for pressure washers. Household soaps foam poorly, leave residue and can damage the pump seals if they reach the injector. The Simpson cleaners here are formulated for cannons and injectors.
Which cleaner do I use for what?

Why is my foam thin?
Low pressure, low flow, or too little concentrate. Turn the dial toward more soap, use a narrower nozzle setting, and check that the machine delivers at least 2 GPM. Thick foam needs pressure to whip it.
