Pressure Washer Pump Oil and Protectors

Pump Oil, Pump Guard and O Ring Kits for Pressure Washers

Most pressure washer pumps die from three things: old oil, water left inside to freeze, and a torn o ring that lets air in. The three Simpson parts here address all three. The 80138 pump crankcase oil is the change a triplex pump needs every 50 hours or every season. The 80273 pump guard is the antifreeze and lubricant you pump through the machine before winter or a month in the truck. The 80151 o ring and filter kit replaces the seals at the hose and gun connections and the inlet filter that keeps grit out of the pump. All ship new from the manufacturer through High Pressure Car Washer, an authorized Simpson dealer, with free shipping to the lower 48 states.

These fit Simpson machines and most triplex and axial pumps with standard quick connects. If you run a Pressure-Pro, BE, Cam Spray or Kranzle unit, the product page on your machine lists its oil and seal kit, and a call confirms it. The guide under the products covers the oil change, winter storage and the leaks an o ring kit fixes.

Pressure washer pump oil

A triplex pump runs its plungers in an oil bath, and that oil picks up water and wear metal. Change it after the first 25 hours on a new machine and every 50 hours or once a season after that, with a pump oil, not motor oil: pump oil is formulated for the seals and the temperature of a pump crankcase. The Simpson 80138 is the crankcase oil for Simpson pumps and fits most triplex pumps.

Pump guard and winter storage

Water left in a pump freezes, expands and cracks the manifold, which is the most common pressure washer death in the northern states. Pump guard is a non toxic antifreeze and lubricant: connect the bottle to the inlet, pull the trigger until it runs out the outlet, and the pump is protected for the winter and lubricated for spring. Do it before any storage longer than a month.

O rings, seals and the inlet filter

A machine that surges, loses pressure or drips at the connections usually has a torn o ring at the hose or gun coupling, or a clogged inlet filter starving the pump. The Simpson 80151 kit carries the replacement o rings and the inlet filter screen; replacing them takes five minutes and saves a service call.

Pressure Washer Pump Oil and Protectors questions, answered

How often should I change pressure washer pump oil?
After the first 25 hours on a new machine, then every 50 hours or once a season. Use a pump oil, not motor oil.
Do I need pump guard?
If the machine sits for a month or sees a freeze, yes. Water left in the pump cracks the manifold when it freezes. Pump guard displaces the water and lubricates the seals.
Will these fit a non Simpson machine?
The oil fits most triplex pumps and the pump guard fits any machine. The o ring kit fits standard quick connect fittings; check your machine's product page for its own seal kit or call and we confirm.
Why does my pressure washer surge or lose pressure?
Usually a torn o ring letting air in at a coupling, a clogged inlet filter, or a worn nozzle. Replace the o rings and the filter first; they are the cheap fix.
How does shipping work on accessories?
Shipping is free to the lower 48 states by ground. Orders are prepared within 0 to 1 business days and delivery takes 5 to 8 business days. Accessories ordered with a machine ship separately by ground while the machine goes by freight.
Are these sold by an authorized dealer?
Yes. High Pressure Car Washer is an authorized dealer for BE Power Equipment, Cam Spray, Kranzle, Makinex, Pressure-Pro and Simpson, and everything ships new from the manufacturer with its factory warranty.
