How a hydraulic drive pressure washer works
The vehicle's hydraulic system feeds a hydraulic motor on the pressure washer frame, and that motor turns a triplex plunger pump. Connect the pressure and return lines to an auxiliary circuit, feed the pump water, and it runs as long as the vehicle does. There is nothing else on the frame: no engine, no fuel tank, no starter, no electrical box.
What the vehicle has to supply
Each unit lists the hydraulic flow in gallons per minute and the pressure in PSI the motor needs, and the skid steer, truck or vac unit has to deliver at least that on an auxiliary circuit. Most skid steers and service bodies do; the product page and a phone call confirm it before the unit ships. Water supply is the same as any pressure washer: a tank or a tap that delivers the pump's GPM.
Skid steers, vac trucks and marine
Skid steer crews clean the machine and the site from the machine. Vac and sewer trucks carry the unit for hydro excavation cleanup and tank washing. Boats run a hydraulic unit off the deck system for deck and hull washing where a gas engine is unwelcome. Any vehicle with an auxiliary hydraulic circuit is a candidate.
Choosing between 3,000, 4,000 and 5,000 PSI
The 304HYD at 3,000 PSI and 4 GPM covers washing the machine and general cleanup. The 404HYD at 4,000 PSI handles caked mud, concrete and equipment. The 5055HYD at 5,000 PSI and 5.5 GPM is the industrial unit for stripping, tank interiors and hydro excavation cleanup, and it needs the most hydraulic flow.
Hydraulic drive units we recommend
Cam Spray 304HYD for skid steers
The Cam Spray 304HYD hydraulic powered pressure washer is 3,000 PSI at 4 GPM on a base mount frame, the general cleanup unit.
Cam Spray 404HYD for service trucks
The Cam Spray 404HYD puts 4,000 PSI and 4 GPM on a service body for equipment and site cleaning.
Cam Spray 5055HYD for vac trucks and industrial work
The Cam Spray 5055HYD is the 5,000 PSI 5.5 GPM industrial unit for tank washing and hydro excavation cleanup.
Freight, delivery and returns on machines
Free freight to the lower 48. Machines ship new from the manufacturer by freight carrier at no charge to a commercial address with a loading dock or forklift, or to the carrier's nearest terminal for pickup. Orders are prepared within 0 to 1 business days and delivery takes 5 to 8 business days.
Liftgate service, $95 flat. No dock or forklift? Choose liftgate service when you add the machine to the cart. The carrier calls ahead to schedule, brings the crate to your address and lowers it to the ground with a liftgate. It lands at the curb or driveway, not inside the building. One flat fee per order, whatever the machine weighs.
On delivery. Inspect the crate before signing. Note any damage on the delivery receipt and photograph it. We file the claim with the carrier, and if a replacement is needed we ship it.
Returns. Unused machines in original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. A 20 percent restocking fee applies and return freight is the buyer's responsibility, and a refused freight delivery is handled the same way, which is why we would rather confirm the model before it ships: send the job, the water and the power on site through the form on this page and we check the spec against the machine. Full terms are on the shipping policy and return policy pages.
