Why choose a gas pressure washer
No cord, no circuit and more output per dollar than electric above 3,000 PSI. A gas engine turns a triplex pump at full flow anywhere a truck can park, which is the whole job for contractors, mobile detailers, farms and fleet yards. The trade is exhaust and noise, so gas stays outdoors, and a small amount of engine maintenance: oil, air filter, fresh fuel.
Honda pressure washers
137 of the machines here carry a Honda GX engine, from the GX200 at 196cc on the 2,500 to 3,400 PSI units to the GX390 at 389cc on the 4,000 PSI class and the GX690 V twin on the 8 GPM hot water units. Honda earns its price on starting: a GX starts on the first or second pull for years, parts are everywhere, and a crew never waits on the machine. Simpson, Pressure-Pro and BE all build on Honda.
Kohler and Vanguard engine pressure washers
Kohler engines power the Pressure-Pro Eagle and Dirt Laser lines and several Simpson units at a lower price than the Honda version of the same machine, with the same pump. Briggs and Stratton Vanguard engines sit on the biggest gas hot water skids and portable units, the 479cc and 570cc V twins that run a 5 GPM burner unit all day. All three are commercial engines with parts support; the choice is price and what your mechanic already stocks.
Direct drive versus belt drive
A direct drive pump bolts to the engine shaft and spins at engine speed, 3,400 RPM, which keeps the machine compact and the price down. A belt drive pump spins at about half that through a belt and pulleys, so it runs cooler, quieter and longer, and it tolerates a marginal water supply better. Weekend and light commercial use: direct drive. Daily crews and hot water units: belt drive. The Simpson Super Pro, Water Blaster and Truck Mount lines and the Pressure-Pro belt drive units are the belt drive picks here.
Commercial gas pressure washers
The commercial class starts around 3,200 PSI at 2.8 GPM with a triplex pump and runs to 7,000 PSI industrial units and 10 GPM truck mounts. What separates it from a hardware store machine is the pump, rebuildable and rated for thousands of hours, and the frame that survives a truck. The full commercial range, gas and electric, is in commercial pressure washers.
Gas hot water pressure washers
51 of these gas units heat the water with a diesel fired burner, the machine a fleet, a farm or a contractor buys when the dirt is greasy. The engine runs the pump and a 12 volt system runs the burner, so the unit needs gasoline, diesel and a hose, nothing else. The Simpson King Brute and Truck Mount lines, the BE HW series and the Pressure-Pro skids are the picks; all of them also appear in hot water pressure washers.
Gas pressure washers for car detailing and home use
Mobile detailers who wash where there is no outlet buy a quiet gas unit in the 2,500 to 3,300 PSI class with 2.5 to 3 GPM and run a wide fan tip on paint. Homeowners get the same class for driveways, decks and siding in the Simpson Clean Machine and Pressure-Pro Pro Power lines, which sit in residential pressure washers.
Gas pressure washers we recommend by job
Four picks for the four jobs gas buyers ask about most.
Simpson CM61083 for driveways and home use
The Simpson Clean Machine CM61083 gives 3,400 PSI and 2.5 GPM for a driveway, a deck and the siding on a Saturday at a homeowner price.
Simpson ALWB60828 for contractors
The Simpson Aluminum Water Blaster ALWB60828 runs 4,200 PSI at 4.0 GPM on a Honda GX390 and an aluminum frame that never rusts in the truck, with a belt drive pump for daily use.
Simpson TM3080141E for fleet washing
The Simpson Truck Mount TM3080141E is a 3,000 PSI 8.0 GPM belt drive hot water truck mount, the flow that clears a trailer, at a price well under the diesel skids.
Pressure-Pro SK40005VH for heavy equipment
The Pressure-Pro Dirt Laser SK40005VH puts 4,000 PSI and 5 GPM of hot water on a truck bed skid with a 570cc Vanguard, sized for a day of excavators and dozers.
Freight, delivery and returns on machines
Free freight to the lower 48. Machines ship new from the manufacturer by freight carrier at no charge to a commercial address with a loading dock or forklift, or to the carrier's nearest terminal for pickup. Orders are prepared within 0 to 1 business days and delivery takes 5 to 8 business days.
Liftgate service, $95 flat. No dock or forklift? Choose liftgate service when you add the machine to the cart. The carrier calls ahead to schedule, brings the crate to your address and lowers it to the ground with a liftgate. It lands at the curb or driveway, not inside the building. One flat fee per order, whatever the machine weighs.
On delivery. Inspect the crate before signing. Note any damage on the delivery receipt and photograph it. We file the claim with the carrier, and if a replacement is needed we ship it.
Returns. Unused machines in original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. A 20 percent restocking fee applies and return freight is the buyer's responsibility, and a refused freight delivery is handled the same way, which is why we would rather confirm the model before it ships: send the job, the water and the power on site through the form on this page and we check the spec against the machine. Full terms are on the shipping policy and return policy pages.
